MY PHILOSOPHY
My teaching philosophy is based upon different strategies from Love & Logic, Wong, and Conscious Discipline. I believe having procedures and routines in place are important to have a successful classroom throughout the year. Each student is unique in their own way. I believe it is important to create relationships at the beginning of the year, and continue to have them grow throughout the year. Students learn best when they trust and know their teachers. I want my students to have self-concept and a voice in the classroom that encourages them to handle conflict and their behaviors. Having a voice in the classroom is important to me because I care about what my students think and what they believe in. My overall goal for the classroom is to incorporate collaboration and cooperation between all of the students and me. Through this, I will keep a classroom that is based on trust, respect, and organization.
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
My philosophy of Classroom Management is similar to my teaching philosophy. It is based upon Love & Logic, Wong, and Conscious Discipline. I believe students learn best when they are engaged in the content being taught. I believe establishing an engaging classroom environment can spark interest and learning within students. I believe in giving my students positive feedback by recognizing specific actions/behavior and praising them for doing it so well. This is an indirect way of telling off task students to engage in a positive way. I will establish procedures and routines to keep my classroom managed and give the students responsibility. As a teacher, I will model staying in my upstairs brain and support my students when they are in the emotional and survival state of mind.
